O'Neil House Bed And Breakfast

Wonderful stay at the O’Neil B&B! The whole house is beautifully redone to include all of the gorgeous guest rooms. Gale is wonderful hostess and makes a delicious breakfast! Such a treat to stay here, definitely recommend!!!

Amazing, amazing, amazing!! I stayed in the family suite for the same cost if a hotel only this has charm, beautiful grounds, space, great breakfast, and a wonderful owner who cares about her guests. The room was clean and spacious, the towels were plush, beds comfortable.

The owner truly cares about her guests and is so fun to talk to. The house is historic and just perfect. Any time I stay in Akron it will be here.

Great for B&B stay! Awesome service from the care taker, we have hosted plenty of receptions & anniversary dinners here. Piano & old school decor mansion look with updated TLC from the owner. Highly recomendable.

Much more than a B&B! The rooms are huge and elegant with charming views of the lush property. Quiet, private, yet strategically located! All is maintained exquisitely by its enchanting owner who shares fascinating facts with each new stay. God's blessings upon her! All of this plus her deliciously appetizing freshly prepared breakfast makes even an overnight stay well worth it! CONGRATULATIONS on the 100th year of the O'Neil House!

Gayle was amazing and the house is beyond beautiful. I had originally booked Grace's Room which would have been plenty for me traveling on my own, but the Master Suite was available and as Gayle was showing me around the place, I decided to upgrade. It was far more room than I needed but I loved every bit of it. The art deco bathroom, the sitting areas, the closet space! I fell in love with the house and the grounds, as well as Gayle's friendliness and welcoming manner. Plus a great breakfast, too! Will definitely stay here again.

Oh my goodness gracious - what a fantastic stay and such a nice surprise! I toured the Stan Hywet Hall on a Thursday and my guide suggested I stay at the O'Neil House - said it was the closest thing to staying at Stan Hywet itself. I called on Friday, I think, to see if they had any availability on Sunday night in the lower end of their price range (which on the website is listed as $75-200) She said she had a guest room available for $100 (including tax) and I agreed.

When I arrived, I was shown into a whole massive 1920's style apartment! I felt sure she had made a mistake and asked if it was the $100 one and she said yes! (I'm wondering now if she gave me a deal.) There was a large living room (HUGE sectional) with a dining area, a "dressing area" (which proved useful when I did my hair the next day - no outlets in the bathroom) a large bedroom with a four-poster bed, large bay window and seating area and two closets, and - my favorite - a green marble bathroom, original to the house. Holy cow, this bathroom! Painted ceiling, chandelier (including a tiny one above the toilet!) sizeable shower, and a nice deep soaking tub - bath bombs included. Also a couple of really nice bathrobes behind the door.

I just couldn't get over that this was my place for the night - I have paid more and gotten much less elsewhere! There isn't any air conditioning, but there is a fan available in the closet and I opened the windows for a cross breeze - all the windows have screens and can open.

In the morning, I came down to a fantastic breakfast! Started with a banana cream napoleon (dessert first!) then scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, bacon, pancakes, and fruit. Plus cranberry juice since I don't drink coffee. Then I wandered around the rest of the house and grounds - it's a beautiful place! It definitely feels like you're staying in Stan Hywet or Downton Abbey. What a treat! And lots of places to host a dinner or get married, it looks amazing.

EDIT: I came back and stayed in Grace's Room and had just a good a time - only wish I could stay longer!

O'Neil House B&B was a wonderful stopover for me on a drive from NYC to Chicago. The house is well maintained and well appointed. Gayle Johnson, the owner/innkeeper was welcoming, personable, and full of information re the history of the property. The grounds are beautiful as well, and make a stunning backdrop. I had a superb breakfast prepared by Gayle that was the perfect endng to a really enjoyable stay.

We had the sleigh bed room and it was lovely. There is an adjoining sitting room with a view of the garden. This is a beautiful historic home.
