Santa Maria Golf Course

This is one of my favorite places to play in the state! Challenging course, yet not overbearing. Beautiful landscape and homes. Friendly staff. Almost shocking that this is a public course for how nice it is!

Excellent field, some of the fairways are quite demanding. Lots of elevation differences, great view from above.

Overall nice course. Played last 7/24/21 and they must have just aerated and sanded the greens, as they played horribly (at least that’s my excuse anyway). But, that’s part of it and normally they are better. South Louisiana has been pounded lately with rain, but of all the Baton Rouge area courses, this was the least swampy. It was a balmy 95° so I was glad to see the cart girl pass by every 6 holes or so for refreshments. Would recommend.

For a public course you can't beat Santa Maria. Pretty course, good bit of water hazard. The practice facility is great. There is a normal range (no short net), several short game areas for chipping, putting, bunker play.

Good little muni. Staff was great. Course in great shape. Greens were great. Great practice facility. Sand is excellent. Some of the holes are kinda close. You make the turn away from clubhouse. They do have halfway house but kinda limited. I would say a one must play if in the area.

The course is in great shape. Construction on hole 5, playing a 60 yd par 3. Greens a little bumpy but putts stayed online for the most part. Excellent value!

My home course to play. Great layout and almost always in great shape. Just added some mats to the driving range when it is wet. Good practice area

Wonderful Pro staff. We were there with a group of 20 beginner to advanced. They were very informative for the putting and driving lesson. Good looking course

Course in great shape. Bunkers are now consistent. Very pleased with the greens. For a public course the staff is doing a fantastic job.

I visit Baton Rouge on business and always make a point to play Santa Maria. Awesome layout, well manicured and a Robert Trent Jones design for ~$35...You gotta play it!
