Solid sushi, wait times aren't crazy and prices aren't sky high

Tonkatsu is delicious as are the unagi Nigri (very fresh and served hot/warm)

The Rock shrimp tempura is tasty

The lunch bento boxes are so much good food for the price

A close friend of my wife and I's recommended this place as the best place in Austin to get sushi and tempura. He was not wrong! Living in Japan I've had amazing Japanese cuisine - Tomodachi brought me back to Japan.

My wife and I have been here 3 more times, ordering different sushi items, tempura and entrees. Everything has been incredible, and the service is impeccable.

Tomodachi is on our heavy rotation - highly recommend!

By far my fav sushi restaurant in Austin. Very small restaurant with maybe 6-10 tables and a sushi bar.

Black cod 10/10 : marinated in miso and it is superb. I have to order every time.

Japa tai :10/10 aka japanese sea bream

Nobu's new style salmon sashimi : 10/10

Salmon toro:10/10 we got this prepared 2 different ways. One seared topped with fresh Wasabi and the 2nd has a ponzu or yuzu sauce on it.

Seared scallop 10/10

No question it’s the best place to have sashimi in Austin if not Texas. Quality foods with an American twist on garnishing that is not seen in Japan.
I’m sure their rolls are good but make sure to get sashimis and nigiris here, which their quality is hard to come by in the states.
