Yea, it’s dark but delicious. We had both the southern style chicken sandwich and the chipotle BBQ burger. 10/10 highly recommend this little gem. ?

Great dive bar! Delicious burgers and drinks. So sad they are closing due to the building being renovated.

A Columbia institution, the Whig has more character and style than the majority of restaurants and bars, which choose polite mediocrity over authenticity. Boasting some of the best staff, drinks, and food in the city, the Whig will be thoroughly missed when it is forced out of its subterranean bunker by the march of development.

The jarritos paloma was really good and really strong! sad I only came after finding out that they're closing soon:,( the food is priced really well too. really enjoyed my night here!

Tight spaced dive bar, but always a nice time. If you can find a seat, grab some food and sit awhile. You'll find all the grad students blowing off steam here every night of the week.

So glad to have found this place on our trip to Columbia. Lovely bar great atmosphere totally down to earth.

My favorite dive bar in the city. You can get a pint of local beer here cheaper than you can get it at the brewery that makes it. The food is awesome- my favorite is the Veg-fil-a, but the real chicken sandwich is also amazing. They announced today that they were closing this location, which is a huge loss for Columbia. I rushed to come over this evening. I hope to see another location soon! Great drinks, great atmosphere, amazing food. Loved all the time spent here with my friends.

Hands down the best bar in Columbia, SC.... Go get a whig burger and rum punch before they close ?

So I had saw reviews on this place. And decided to go there for my bday. When we walked it. Didnt know what to expect. It was self seating. After about 5 min or so. A waiter came over. Told us when we were ready to order to come to the bar. I guess she could tell we were first timers there. They have a big variety of drinks
.just not non alcoholic.. the menu was basic. Mostly sandwiches. We talked about it for a little while and decided to stay and order since we were already there. But I must say... their sandwiches were good. And the fries. Well seasoned. They were delicious. I cant say I would go back. I am not a big burger person. But it was good.

Amazing beer selection, (very well priced) in dimly lit downstairs (below street level) bar that serves good food too.
