Everything we read about Soto was correct. Food was some of the best I have had in along time at a restaurant. Lance, our waiter, was astounding. He was very attentive and deserved the tip we gave him. I had the risotto and my husband had the Chilean sea bass and we were extremely happy with both. I highly recommend this restaurant.
he only thing remarkable about this place is the bill at the end. IDK what is wrong with people in Austin when it comes to writing reviews but it seems like pretension is king here. Let me start by saying I come from eating sushi weekly in CA for over 10 years, so Im no stranger to it. The sushi is just ok, nothing to write home about. The fish cuts are so miniscule you couldnt even tell if its good anyway, and fresh fish is a minimum requirement for evwn decent sushi so you dont get points just for having fresh fish, sorry. I wouldnt pick this place over any other austin sushi spot unless your only goal is to impress somone with how irresponisble you are with money. My god was it filled with exactly the kind of people id expect at an extremely overpriced mediocre sushi spot cashing in on the hip crowd in a hip part of town. If you think for yourself go elsewhere.
We had a 6:30 reservation on a Saturday. Mind you, it was busy but we weren't seated until 7:30. The hostesses seemed young and inexperienced since they were seating people who came in after us and weren't flexible to previous reservations that didn't clear the table as quickly. However, once we were seated, we had the most amazing nigiri and sushi that we've ever had. Definitely recommend the grilled Chilean Sea Bass. Melts in your mouth!

Ate outside and had a great time. Late summer it was still warm out but there is so much shade with the buildings it creates a nice atmosphere with the light fading. Ended up ordering like 7 of the Sake Toro Nigiri. Couldn’t get enough. Also have to shoutout the Wagyu land and sea roll, and the Ume Sour. Expensive drink but worth it to split with your date. Definitely going back

he food was delicious and the service was great. We loved the risotto but make sure to save space for dessert. The green tea tiramisu was so good.
