Anyone interested in the history of the California Gold Rush should visit this museum. It's pretty fascinating. It's sort of Sacramento-focused, but not entirely. There were more Sacramento-specific exhibits when it was the Discovery Museum.

Friendly people and a true hidden gem in Sacramento! Old Sacramento Underground Tours, AFTER HOURS tours, Gold Fever!, and even a paranormal tour!

This place was super fun and the underground tour was fun and very informative. Learned alot about Sacramento and Northern California. Would definitely go back!

I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M HERE. I traveled so far to see this place, and it was a delight. I've followed these kind folk on You Tube and Tiktok for a couple months, and every single video is full of information, wit, and gentle humor. I got to meet Alex in real life and another delightful human (I can't remember her name! ?) and although I didn't meet Howard, I took my picture next to Flat Howard and bought a bunch of stuff. I think a new wing should be built on the museum for an expanded print shop. The whole museum was wonderful, too! I can't wait to come back ?

They had floods, fires. Gold was discovered. They raised the streets and some of the buildings. Yupp, that's about it.

Great museum with interesting information and displays. the workers are passionate about their jobs and you can definitely tell they enjoy what they do. we did the underground tour and had a blast!

Small museum packed full of interesting pictures and artifacts: from the Indians to the gold rush to a 1920s home kitchen. Awesome experience, got to speak with Doc Logan, a doc with replica medical tools and knowledge and a table near the entrance to learn about early 1800s medicine. Overall a very interesting museum, worth the admission and should take about 1.5 hrs if you read all the plaques. Worth a revisit if nothing but for books at the museum shop!

You have to come and enjoy the museum and get your knowledge on. I loved it. Come and take a walk into our past.

Awesome museum! Anyone with an interest in California history will enjoy it. The Acorns to Avocado's exhibit was especially captivating. We went on half-priced day

Booked the underground tour through here which also includes museum admission. Headsets through the tour made it easier to hear the guide wherever you were standing. Guide was thorough and informative. Appreciated the museums inclusion of native Americans and the exhibits. The gold mining section was well designed. Staff was friendly. Small gift ship with old time games and a variety of souvenirs. Worth stopping in
